A generation of heroes treads the face of this earth. Their sweats mark the four corners of time and eternity and their roars, like a clarion, echoing in the ears and the hearts of men who behold and witness them. A packed battalion of lions with one leader they are, assigned with one mission, one vision and one purpose: to infect MORALE, because morale is contagious, it is the GRACE and springboard that sustains the strength and endurance of a soldier and propels him to greater heights of fulfillment with enthusiasm.
"MORALE is the GRACE and springboard that sustains the strength and endurance of a
soldier and propels him to greater heights of fulfillment with enthusiasm."
The University Hall Army
Cadet Corps, Katalion has been in existence for over five years before inauguration,
but was officially inaugurated on 4th June, 2003 by former Cadet Captain Tibiru
Puntaanah Lawrence with other cadets at a time where the Corps was not firm and
established, under the auspices and command of Lieutenant Colonel S. Ayer,
Commanding Officer of the 4th Battalion of Infantry (4BN), Kumasi of the Ghana
Armed Forces. The former cadet Captain and his men at that time sought to
redefine, reshape and establish the University Hall Cadet. And so during the
day of inauguration, a new name was unraveled; KATALION, forged from the combination of the renowned name of the
hall of location in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology; Katanga and the unit that the men form;
Battalion.
The most primary
responsibility of the Corps centers on safety, security and discipline in
Katanga, among other responsibilities which include representing the University
Hall, Katanga in social activities or programs pertinent to our training
curriculum and gracing occasions or ceremonies worth our presence both within
and beyond the boundaries of this Hall and the University at large in a
splendid blend of “Katangeeism” and militarism. The Corps seeks to imbue into cadets
the elements of discipline, humility, brotherliness, hardworking and commitment
into Cadets through drills, endurance and other activities which make cadets
lose their individuality and become unified into a body under obedience to
orders (as one man).
Physical and mental
strength are endued in cadets through constant endurance training exercises. A
person who undergoes such training tends to develop selflessness,
self-confidence, audacity, astuteness, physical and mental endurance, alertness
and many other skills and qualities which results in the conquest of fear and timidity.
The Corps has experienced
great improvement, successes, achievements, higher level of foot and arm drills
and morale over the years after inauguration, witnessing yearly appointment of
leadership to carry on the mantle and vision of the KATANGA BATTALION.
Taking cognizance of efforts
and servitude to Katalion, due acknowledgement and gratitude is accorded given
to all contributions and commitment.
Indisputably, our high
sense of esprit de corps fueled by discipline and unparalleled high morale is
unmatched. Our training makes us vibrant and formidable. We move and live together. We believe in one
can do all can do. We never give up. We rest not. We live, fight or die hard!
KATANGA WEE….. WO))!!
Katalion……
We fear no foe! We conquer!! We conquer all!!!
